From the Archives: Halloween 2010

Couldn’t really think of anything to draw for Halloween as I don’t generally care for holidays, so here’s some older work. Can’t really recall when I did these (which is why I started dating all my work now), but I think it was two or three years ago; I put together a horror series pitch with SaiRong, the writer I worked with for a few chapters on the webcomic Dreams and Dragons. I’m actually really, really glad it didn’t get picked up, as the quality of these pages is much more terrifying than the story could hope to be. And I suppose the contract scandal that blew up in TokyoPop’s face shortly afterward also softened the blow considerably. Heh. The second page is especially cringe-inducing. This pitch is also the reason I’m fairly adamant about using my own handwriting for the lettering and word balloons. It could have turned out so much better. *le sigh* I do confess I’m still sommat fond of those last two pages though (wretchedly rendered scream notwithstanding). <_<

Anyhoo, everyone have a fun and safe Halloween! Give yourself a few cavities, paper a neighbor’s lawn, and if a suspicious looking man (or woman (orPedobear)) approaches you in a white paneled van offering you candy, club him/her/it upside the head with a heavy blunt object and take that damn candy by force! Yaaahaa!
